Petřín Lookout Tower and the Mirror Maze
When I first set out for Petřín, I felt as if I were leaving the busy streets of Prague and stepping into a completely different world. Just a few minutes of walking—or a short ride on the funicular—and suddenly you’re surrounded by greenery, with the city spread out below you like a painted backdrop. And right here stand two places with a special charm: the Petřín Lookout Tower and the Mirror Maze.
Petřín Lookout Tower – a Small Eiffel Tower with a Big View
The Petřín Lookout Tower is one of those places that never disappoints. Whether it’s summer, autumn, or a crisp winter day, the view from the top is always breathtaking. Built in 1891 as a loose inspiration from the Eiffel Tower, it may be much smaller, but its charm is unmistakable.
When you climb to the top—by stairs or by elevator—the panorama of Prague opens before you: Hradčany, the Vltava River, the Old Town, the Žižkov Tower… everything right in the palm of your hand. It’s one of those places where you stop for a moment, forget about time, and simply look.

The Mirror Maze – A Trip Back to Childhood
Just a few steps from the tower stands the Mirror Maze, which is exactly what it should be—slightly old‑fashioned, a bit kitschy, but incredibly fun. You step inside and suddenly you’re a kid again. The mirrors stretch you, shrink you, distort you, and before you know it, you’re laughing like you haven’t in years.
Inside, you’ll also find a historical diorama of the Battle of Charles Bridge, depicting the defense of Prague against the Swedes in 1648. It’s an unusual mix—part humor, part history—but that’s exactly what makes the maze so unique.
Why You Should Visit
The Petřín Lookout Tower and the Mirror Maze are perfect when you want to escape the city center for a moment without losing the atmosphere of Prague. It’s a place where romance, history, and playfulness blend together. Whether you’re on a date, with family, or exploring on your own, Petřín always rewards you with a beautiful view and a good mood.
If you’re planning a walk through Prague, Petřín is definitely one of the places you shouldn’t miss. It’s a little trip within the big city.
